RICARDO FONSECA is an acknowledged artist amongst the Portuguese community in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, he immigrated to the United States in 1987.
Ricardo's enthusiasm for art and color began at a very young age. As a child, his doodle drawings proved to be very promising as the years passed. As a result, being a student through grammar school and high school, he had a considerable thirst to learn about art. Ricardo thought of his teachers as valuable and influential people that he could learn vastly from. By the time he started college, he had already decided to pursue an art degree with a concentration in graphic design.
Ricardo Fonseca is an Alumni of William Paterson University and has earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. His studies amount to five lenient years of drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, and web design. His passionate drive for knowledge of all art, its different forms and media, make him the diverse artist that he is today. One can witness the bridge of his proud Portuguese roots displayed through his art and his chosen themes. Some of the hallmarks of Ricardo's art include subjects from his childhood in Portugal, such as: fishing boats, windmills, cows (one of his favorites), lighthouses, etc. In addition, he is recognized for his mirror and glass etchings, which illustrate a modern form of his art.
Presently, Mr. Fonseca works as a professional graphic/web designer at a local university, but keeps actively busy freelancing as a fine artist, graphic designer and web designer. He has been commissioned by numerous patrons to create art murals and art pieces since the age of 14. In addition, Ricardo belongs to the board of directors committee at Sport Club Português (SCP) located in Newark, New Jersey, where he volunteers his time to community service and charitable-related projects and events. Ricardo is also a member of PALCUS (Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States), where he dedicates his talents to further promoting the Washington D.C. based non-profit organization. He has produced several art exhibits at SCP, as well as, at different locations in conjunction with PALCUS and continues to strive for a larger community involvement in art in the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ.
Ricardo Fonseca is a dynamic and ambitious individual with a set perspective on future goals. His future goals entail pursuing a Masters Degree and eventually becoming an art director for a design company. In addition, he would like to teach art or design classes at a well respected institution. Ricardo lives life by his saying, "We can all use a little more art and color in our daily lives." |
